FORTUNA FOUND - YOUR KITE COMMUNITY
Napali Reel

Accessory Craftsmanship
I made this but did not invent this form of reel (by 1000 years). It is a meant to pay out and take up fighter kite (or other light-pull kite) line directly from or onto the reel without piling line on the ground. It is manipulated from the edges and takes up about 16" per turn. I cut and drilled the disks, hand split the bamboo slats and shaved them to a set length to fit into the holes securely. The whole is urethaned and then the stick ends waxed.
